Why it is on this rack

The D Bomb is a compact creature bait that gets into cover and out again. Its tight profile slips through weeds and around laydowns where a bulkier bait would hang up, and it holds a hook well on a hard set. On the freshwater side of the OBX — the ponds, ditches and creek bends — it is the bait for punching and flipping into the places that hold the biggest fish. Six to a pack.

How to fish it here

Rig it Texas-style and pitch it into cover, or use it as a trailer on a jig. The compact shape and fast fall get it down through a mat and into the strike zone quickly. Work it with short hops and let it settle, then shake it in place. Speckled trout will take the same bait fished lighter around inshore structure. Its compact profile makes it skip under docks and laydowns, so it reaches fish that a bigger bait cannot get to without hanging up. Let it fall on a semi-tight line so you can feel the tick, and set the hook hard through the cover once the weight comes back.
