Why it is on this rack

The Tru-Turn bait hook is a long-standing design with an offset shank that turns into the corner of the mouth as the fish takes. That geometry matters for bait fishing, where the hookset has to be reliable without swinging hard, and it is why the pattern has stayed in the box for generations of surf and bottom anglers. It suits red drum, striped bass and bluefish on the same rig.

How to fish it here

Snell it, or tie it straight, on a fish-finder or bottom rig above the sinker, and bait it with a chunk, a worm or a strip. Let the fish take and turn before you tighten, and the offset shank does the work. In the surf, cast it past the bar into the slough and hold the rod; on the sound side, fish it on the bottom around structure. Keep a few tied on snelled leaders in a wallet so a break-off costs seconds rather than a re-rig in the dark on a moving tide.
