Why it is on this rack
The Scented Jerk ShadZ is a soft jerkbait for trout holding in current. It darts sideways and then stalls on the fall, and that dying-bait action is what triggers a reaction strike from a speckled trout that has seen every slow-moving plastic in the box. The scent is moulded into the ElaZtech, so a fish that grabs on the pause tends to stay hooked. It also suits red drum and bluefish working the same water.
How to fish it here
Rig it weightless, or on a light swimbait hook, and work it with sharp twitches of the rod tip on slack line, letting it fall between snaps. Around marsh points, creek mouths and oyster bars, aim it along the current seam and let it swing and stall. Five per pack, and the tough rubber keeps it going through a session of hard strikes. It casts a long way for a soft bait because there is no weight to tumble, which is why it suits the sound flats where the fish sit well off the boat.
