Why it is on this rack

The Scented PaddlerZ is the five-inch answer for when the fish have switched onto bigger bait. Longer and slimmer than a standard paddletail, it carries the Pro-Cure Super Gel scent in the plastic itself, which keeps a fish holding on for the extra moment that a hookset needs. It is the bait to reach for when red drum are chasing mullet and menhaden through the inlets, or when striped bass and bluefish are working a school just out of casting range.

How to fish it here

Rig it on a heavier jig head or a swimbait hook and it fishes either as a swimbait on a steady wind or as a twitchbait on sharp snaps of the rod tip. Around Oregon Inlet and the sound-side points, work it along the current seams and let it swing; the scent buys you time when a fish follows without committing. Five to a pack. The slender body casts into the wind on the beach and still swims on a slow roll, so it covers the same water as a hard bait with a better hookup rate.
