BLUEFISH
Blues will eat almost anything and fight like they mean it. Bring wire, because they cut leaders for a living.

Reading the buoys for bluefish…
Live data unavailable
Live buoy data is not answering, so read the table above. Cut mullet on a wire trace is the bait that always works.
The live buoy page →Bluefish are here all year, but the spring and fall runs are when the big choppers show.
4 bait-to-rig lines for bluefish, led by cut mullet or menhaden. These do not change with the weather, so print them and keep them in the truck.

4 access points where bluefish actually show, each with its walk-in facts and today's call.
Bluefish are the brawlers here, toothy and relentless, and a blitz is pure chaos with fish tearing bait to shreds from every angle. The productive cast is never into the middle of the melee but to the edge, where the stragglers are still feeding calmly. Anything shiny and fast gets hammered, and you should not be surprised when a lure comes back without its tail. Wire is not optional; a chopper will shear through mono without slowing. Keep a couple of spares tied on, bleed what you keep the moment it hits the deck, and get it on ice — a blue that sat in the sun is not one you will want twice. A surface plug walked across the top draws strikes you can watch coming, and watching a school tear at it is half the reason anyone chases them. Expect to lose tackle and rig a fresh leader after every few fish; that is the price of fishing a bait-stealer with teeth. They will follow a hooked fish right to the sand, so a second bait soaked behind the first often doubles the action.
Wire leader, always. A bluefish will cut 50 lb mono without slowing down.
When a blitz starts, cast into the edge of the school. The fish on the outside are still feeding; the middle is chaos.
Bleed them and ice them the moment you keep one. A bluefish that sat in the sun is not one you will eat twice.
